Guidance on Handling Dreams

 The Right Ingredients
Now in saying all that, if we are going to see people within the fellowship mature and grow in bringing us a prophetic ministry, either through dreams, prophecy, or answers to prayers, then we must give them room to grow and make mistakes!

I think it was John Wimber who said:

"I would rather have a stallion to rein in than a mule to kick".

From the little we know about Joseph, he was a man who was not hasty, but willing to seek God's face and do the right thing. That is a good combination of attributes if we want to build up a ministry hearing from God.

 Summary
Finally, just some general questions to ask when you are given or receive a dream, prophecy, or a felt answer to prayer:

  • Does this answer lead me to Christ, or does it direct me somewhere, or to someone else?
  • Does this answer bring Jesus glory?
  • Does this answer lead me to love him more than I did before?
  • Does this answer lead me closer or further away from a single-hearted devotion to Jesus?
